First question: What different fighting styles and arena types are there? So far I've only seen Twin Swords and Judo. I've got a functional grasp on how to spar in Judo, and I can't even imagine how to wield weapons. But I see names of other types of combat and I don't even know how they work! I want to know where I can do my business the best, though I will probably end up sticking with Judo.

Second question: Could I find someone to walk me through all of this in-game, and maybe show me a little better how to develop techniques? I can offer only one that I have made myself, which I am told by a few of my opponents is moderately impressive.

1: There are a lot of mods. I can't count how many, there are just so many. The main mods are basically Aikido, Judo, Taekkyon, Wushu and something in that direction.

There are many ways to play all the different mods. "sparring" is normally when two people play to make a "realistic" fight. You can see examples of these in the default replays like " Swexx vs Largekilla"

Mods are different based on reaction time, frame rate, and other things like gravity and possible weapons, and obstacles.

Judo is a good introduction mod because it has low gravity and big frames. Aikido requires a little more knowledge because the frame rate is much smaller, giving you more opportunity to fine tune your moves.

Remember this is an old game so there is a lot to learn. I recommend picking up all the technique you can in judo as you learn what each individual joint does. After that you need to watch other people play.

I really want to emphasize how important it is to know what each little joint does. The better you understand how movement is created the better you will be at playing different mods.
