what are the setting you had for lighting effects in your pic?

well actually in that pic i just clicked lighting effects then enable bumbmap

Once you start getting the hang of it there are different types of bumpmapping like spherical bumpmapping

photoshop has lighting effects with bumpmapping not just bumpmapping alone
oh and bumpmap levels

Yeah and in gimp you can tweak the hight of the bumps and the light direction,

I think photoshop is about equal if not worse then gimp.
