Whenever I enter a channel i'm given, "Illegal Characters". Any idea to what this could mean?

I assume you're using webchat?
Make sure your username is alphanumeric (a-z, 0-9) without any special characters (which should be fine if you're using this account).

Pretty sure IRC nicks cannot start with numbers, due to how channels originally worked.

I've tested this here and yeah, you can't use a nick started with a number.

When you connect with webchat, assuming it doesn't boot you from the server entirely (it shouldn't), you should be able to type:

/nick SixGod
/join #toribash

You can replace #toribash with any other channel you want to join instead.
