only thing that is not the same is the size of the brush. you have to guess that. otherwise it is exactly the same.

About the vid, I like it. Pretty detailed. I doubt anyone without some serious skills could do it, though.

Agreed, if you can't make the vd help you in GIMP, then it's simply that you're not familiar enough with GIMP and you shouldn't try to make textures just yet anyway.

i used to texture in gimp, but then i changed to photoshop and Gimp is a strange thing on my desktop now :/
