wtf is the point of bumpmap.... does it have a purpose and if so what does it do...?

I have no damn clue..
I got bumpmap on and 512 head, but it didn't do a difference.

What bumpmap is intended to do.

I do not believe they work at present.

Bumps work ATM, they have for a while now (though there was a spell where they didn't)

Technically they're normalmaps, thus you should treat them as such. If you're lazy you can use the plugins in GIMP to make them for you.

Normal maps and bump maps are entirely different things. I think perhaps you should rename them to "normal map" if they are normal maps.

Bump maps define the displacement along the normal, where as normal maps define the direction of the normal.
